Water has reached a socket or electrical installation
After a leak or flood, a dry surface does not establish that the installation is safe.
Guidance for people using properties in Poland, written in British English. These are safe initial actions, not a diagnosis or electrical repair instructions.
Smoke, fire, electric shock or immediate danger: move away and call 112 in Poland. Do not touch anyone who is still in contact with an electrical supply. A DATPOL ticket does not replace an emergency call.
What to do now
- Do not enter standing water or touch wet equipment, wiring, sockets or the distribution board. Keep people away.
- Isolate the supply only if the switch is accessible from a safe, dry position without crossing water. Otherwise, do not attempt to isolate it yourself.
- Inform the property manager and an electrician. The installation and affected appliances need a safety assessment before reuse; drying alone is not proof of safety.
- Call 112 in Poland if people are at risk or there is immediate danger. A support ticket is for arranging follow-up work, not emergency rescue.
What not to do
Do not dry a socket with a hairdryer, dismantle accessories or switch on for a trial. Do not run a makeshift supply through the wet area.
What to include in your support request
Describe the source, extent and timing of the leak, affected rooms and equipment, and supply status. Record evidence for support and your insurer only from a safe location.
