Air conditioning will not start or cool

No cooling, no response to the remote or an error code.

These are initial checks, not a diagnosis or repair instructions. Follow the exact equipment manual and site safety procedures.

Safe initial checks

  1. If there is no burning smell, leak or damage, check the selected mode, temperature setting and timer. Note any error code. Replace remote-control batteries only as described in the manual.
  2. Visually check that the air inlet and outlet are not obstructed. Do not remove service covers or touch internal parts.
  3. Check whether a central controller intentionally restricts operation. Start-up delays vary by model; consult the manual rather than repeatedly switching the power off and on.

What not to do

A burning smell, hot cable, repeated protective-device trips or a leak requires stopping operation and contacting support. Isolate power only from a safe, dry location if you know how to do so.

What to tell support

Provide the model, operating mode, temperature setting, error code and when cooling stopped.
