How to compare an indoor server room with a container solution

Czytaj po polsku

Compare the complete project and operation, not just the room or container price.

Prepared by DATPOL, 4 October 2026. This guidance supports scoping, discussions and acceptance; it does not replace a design or the specific equipment manual. This British English version concerns services and properties in Poland.

Record common assumptions

Use the same IT load, expansion allowance, availability target, power and cooling requirements for both options. Without a common baseline, similarly named quotations may cover very different work.

Check location and dependencies

For a room, assess space, installation routes and work access. For a container, include land, delivery access, foundations, connections and approvals. A separate structure does not automatically remove a shared power dependency or single network connection. Determine formal requirements for the actual site and intended use.

Compare lifecycle costs

Include design, construction, connections, equipment, acceptance, energy and maintenance. Specify system migration, documentation and recovery tests. The programme must include dependencies and connection availability; delivery of a container does not mean services are operational.

Practical checklist

  • Common assumptions for both options.
  • Location, connections and dependencies.
  • Capital and operating costs.
  • Migration, acceptance and commissioning plan.
